Cambridge Early Years (Nursery to PP2)
Early years are often the first formal education a child undertakes and our teachers are very sensitive to the fact that children are not always used to the school routine. Our school has a dedicated Preprimary area which provides your young child with the finest surroundings for their first school experience. Our commitment at Solitaire Global Schools, is to create and maintain a safe, happy and child-centered environment in which students are inspired to become purposeful, life-long learners.
Our curriculum is delivered through a multi-sensory, play-based approach where our students sing, dance, swim, experiment, paint, read, construct and generally have a wonderful time. We maximize our wonderful, purpose-built Pre-primary Play area which acts as an extension of the classroom, to expand the range of activities students can access on a daily basis.
We work on 7 areas of learning and development:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication and Language
- Physical Development
- Literacy
- Numeracy
- General Awareness
- Arts
Every Preprimary classroom has a teacher and a support assistant with a maximum of 30 students in each class. This enhances the rich and varied learning experiences which we personalize for your child. We pride ourselves on our excellent partnerships between parents and educators in which regular communication and mutual support is fundamental. Every child deserves the best possible start in life and here at SGS, we ensure every child reaches their full potential.
Cambridge Primary Programme (Grades 1 to 5)
This programme starts learners on an exciting educational journey. Typically for 5 to 11-year olds, it provides a strong foundation for students at the beginning of their schooling before progressing through the Cambridge Pathway in an age-appropriate way.
Our Primary curriculum is designed to keep students interested and engaged in their learning and to ensure that there is continuation and progression from the Preprimary.
Our aim is to ensure that all the children in our care are happy, confident, well-motivated, enthusiastic and excited about life. We aim to provide a balanced academic challenge, which will enable each student to develop an appetite for learning to realise his or her potential in a safe, caring and supportive environment.
Our pupils learn through a cross-curricular, topic-based approach that creates excitement and puts them at the centre of their own learning. Our ongoing formative assessments track pupil progress to ensure that every child achieves to the best of their abilities.
Physical development is important at this age and our children swim, dance, take part in music, drama and team games.
During their Primary School career, the students are introduced to other languages. Hindi, Telugu, Urdu and French are the languages currently on offer.
Our classrooms are bright and engaging, reflecting the current unit of work and the children’s continuous learning.
Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme (Grades 6 to 7)
This programme is typically for learners aged 11 to 13 years. It helps prepare students for the next step of their education, providing a clear path as they progress through the Cambridge Pathway in an age-appropriate way.
The Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme builds on the primary stage and helps to cultivate your child’s exploration, intellectual curiosity, creativity and strong values whilst delivering excellent academic outcomes in preparation for their Cambridge IGCSE exams.
Our structure ensures that children develop their potential in all areas, with a particular focus on the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science. It is a comprehensive, thematic, creative curriculum, with a clear process of learning and specific skills for every subject.
Our curriculum is delivered by a talented team of experienced and internationally-qualified teachers who have a highly ambitious approach to all-round excellence and are committed to nurturing and inspiring every child they care for. Learning is a collaborative activity that is complemented by the outstanding care, guidance, and support that each child receives at school.
Classroom learning is greatly enriched by specialist sessions, including an embedded community service programme, collaborations with other schools of national and international repute, expert speakers, and child-led exhibitions. This enables your child to develop their knowledge and understanding of the world around them, to make links between subjects, and foster creativity.
International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) (Grades 8 to 10)
Cambridge IGCSE is internationally recognized as the most academically challenging qualification currently on offer to 14 -16 year old students across the world. It sets a global standard for education and is recognized by universities and employers worldwide.
The IGCSE’s are a key milestone in preparing your child for the rigorous Cambridge International AS & A Levels. World’s leading universities look to them as an additional performance indicator when considering applications.
Our curriculum is flexible, challenging, and inspiring, culturally sensitive yet international in approach. Cambridge students develop an informed curiosity and a lasting passion for learning. They also gain the essential skills they need for success at university and in their future careers.
IGCSE stands for International General Certificate of Secondary Education and is a natural continuation of the curriculum taught at Solitaire Global Schools.
The IGCSE curriculum builds on the lower secondary education covered during ages 11-13, and prepares students for examinations at the end of a three-year course at age 16.
This course also prepares students for the academic rigour of the Cambridge International AS & A Levels, as well as encouraging the development of knowledge, skills, and understanding for a successful future beyond their time at school.
Why choose the IGCSE certificate for your child?
Flexible and stimulating curriculum
This curriculum is carefully constructed to provide an externally validated and internationally recognized portfolio of qualifications which provides the opportunity to access the Cambridge International AS & A Levels Program.
During the three-year comprehensive program, our IGCSE students undertake a wide range of individual courses including a choice of mathematics, languages, sciences, humanities, arts, and design.
Across all subjects, Cambridge IGCSE offers a flexible and stimulating curriculum helping to improve performance by developing skills in creative thinking, inquiry, and problem-solving.
At Solitaire, the academic curriculum forms a part of a broader provision with all students enjoying opportunities to engage in co-curricular activities, sport, community service, and creativity. We support students to develop not only academically but personally, in line with our school mission and values.
An internationally recognized qualification
Developed over 25 years ago, the IGCSE curriculum is tried, tested, and trusted by schools with it now being taken in over 145 countries and taught by over 6100 schools worldwide.
IGCSE subjects are assessed through external examinations, and in some cases coursework. It is important to note that these are not just school examinations; they are recognized qualifications by Cambridge Assessment International Education which is part of the prestigious University of Cambridge and also the world’s largest provider of international qualifications to school-age students.
As the world’s most popular international qualification for this age group, the Cambridge IGCSE is widely recognized and accepted by top-tier colleges, universities, and employers worldwide, providing your child with an international passport to success.
This also means that the IGCSE’s are globally transferable and enable study in colleges worldwide or schools offering A levels.
AS & A Level Qualifications (Grade 11 and 12)
Grade 11 (Advanced Subsidiary) & Grade 12 (Advanced Level)
Cambridge International A Level is the world’s most popular international examination for 17-18 year olds. As one of the most recognised qualifications around the world, it is accepted as a proof of academic ability for entry to universities worldwide.
Cambridge International A Levels takes two years to complete and offers a flexible course of study that gives students the freedom to select subjects that are right for them. There are five passing grades (A–E).
Minimum matriculation requirements are at least two pass grades.
Good A Level grades can be a key to admission for the entire world’s major universities. University course credit and advanced standing is often available in countries such as USA and Canada, and good grades in carefully chosen A Level subjects can result in up to one full year of credit.
Advanced Subsidiary (AS) Level represents the first half of a full A level course and gives students the opportunity of studying a broader range of subjects without committing to doing a full A Level.
As with A Levels these enable students to apply successfully to universities throughout the world.
